H.I.I.T - What Is It?

HIIT or high-intensity interval training, is a training technique in which you give all-out, one hundred

percent effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short, sometimes active, recovery periods. This type of training gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns more fat in less time. A high-intensity workout increases the body’s need for oxygen during the effort and creates an oxygen shortage, causing your body to ask for more oxygen during recovery. This after-burn effect is referred to as Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC) and is the reason why intense exercise will help burn more fat and calories than regular aerobic and steady-state workouts.
If you want to boost your metabolism, burn a bit of fat and test yourself then why not give NewFit HIIT a go!
Studies have shown the following benefits:

  • It boosts your metabolism and turns you into a fat burning machine for hours after the session

  • It can help reduce high blood pressure

  • It can lower high blood sugar levels

  • You are more likely to stick to this type of exercise than longer low intensity and medium intensity exercises.

  • It can boost your endurance

  • It can amp up your VO2 Max

  • Its great for your cardiovascular system. It can increase the flexibility and elasticity of veins and arteries compared to continuous aerobic exercise.

  • It can improve your strength and help you maintain lean muscle.

  • Other non sciency based benefits include: it’s a great challenge and its lots of fun (for me anyway).

If any or all of the above appeal to you then give it a go!!!!
